  What is it with spare gas?  How come people seem to always have one of
those little red cans up in the luggage area on a Westie?
  I don't carry extra gas for my rig...never run out in the US...

I did run out once in Baja...Bahia Los Angles is about 80 miles off the main
highway and the main highway gas station was closed...We had half a tank
(ford 4x4 with Alaskan camper) so we thought we would be good to go with
some gas bought in Bahia Los Angles...but the station there was out......We
had to wait two days for the Pemex gas truck to arrive before we could
leave.....Us and about 30 other campers and fishermen.....When the truck
showed up, heralded by it's "Jake Brake" coming down the hill into the
villiage , there was a mad rush  (well, we all went the same day, anyhow,
that's "rushing" in Baja)  over to the station for gas.....
  Gasoline can be unpredictable there, but in the US...I have no problems
keeping some in my Van without an extra gas can...
