Mike,
If your boat has a hard transom, a set of transom wheels would work nicely
for portages. They also make it much easier to lift the boat onto the van,
as you raise the bow to slide it on, the stern just rolls along toward you.
I made my own, (check out the photobucket links) but they are available
ready made.
