I just went to the Ace Hardware, grabbed machine screws, a tad oversize because the holes were worn. There are supposed to be the little clips that fit on sheet metal to hold screws. Miraculously, I found 3 of the 4 in the bottom of the battery box. Lid screwed down tight, now. However, it is a tad warped, and the gasket doesn't quite seal. Think I'm in danger from escaping hydrogen gas generating an explosion? Guess I could fit a new gasket that would be thicker.
