dolly packs small enough to go into my canoe fine. (I did end up posting pics of my dollies here http://shufti.wordpress.com/ 2010/07/12/canoe-dollies-2/)

it was just a thought, another option for you in your dotage.

One other thing to consider is a better system for carrying on van. Yeah I know you asked list before... :)

You need to make it easier to get it up, and get it down. I think at your age that might be an issue :)

There are solutions, for instance a roller bar on a rear roof rack so you hoist the Bootle Bumtrinket up onto the van from the rear. Or side extensions on roof racks that allow you to hoist one end, the the other, of the Bootle Bumtrinket on to racks and then slide it sideways to be fully on van.

Let your fingers do the walking in Google and you will see many a nifty solution.
