If it's a cv, you could have pulled the decoupler engaged and kept on
driving with fnt wheels only. May just be loose bolts..They should be
retightened after things have been apart just to be sure they got torque
tight enough.

yes tripple knobs means both lockers and a decoupler ;).. is there
another term for it?

have you seen a clutch plate come apart in the middle?
