Hi . I think you are more correct in the second part of your supposition/thought .. just seeing that's there won't do a lot of good.

if you see a cable off or something ... that could be useful.

overall...it's very nice when that whole box can just stay in the van and work well enough. I'll send you a picture of one out of the van if you like.. sort of a monster I think, big thing. Way mo' betta if you can just leave it alone.

the main or more serious failure modes in my mind, are fan not working, or heater core leaking.

but, if you don't have anything else to do ..and want to take out the whole dash and re-do everything that's not perfect in there.....

what I'm saying is, if there's not a real problem ...might just want to leave that sucker alone.

it's the little stuff I work on ..getting cables lubed, straightened and unkinked, etc.
