cutting out the old ones is without a doubt the fastest way to get them out.

Even with the two piece design, it's easiest to have the gas tank out. It helps greatly to have another person there to help guide the pipes into place. It's a relatively messy job, as you need to remember that there's "Always" another pint of coolant somewhere in the system to pour out and hit you in the face or run down your arm. It seems to help if you have the van high up on jack stands.
