So I've posted on and off for the past two years about oil leaks. I thought I had things licked (new oil pressure sender, tightened oil filler clamp, snugged two oil pump cover nuts, checked oil cooler o-ring....), I had a no leak situation for awhile and then one day after driving to work I noticed a bit of smoke coming from behind my van, I panicked from some of my air-cooled experiences but when I jumped out I noticed it was some oil dripping on the exhaust by way of the angle of incline I was parked on.
That evening I got home cleaned some stuff off with a rag, and had no more drips, for weeks, until yesterday...
When I got home I noticed a slight drip (rear of engine, passengers side of center) it comes from inbetween the exhaust heat shield and engine carrier, I plan to get on my back and take a good looksie when I get home, since I cleaned everything up last time.
Now here is perhaps a clue, both times I noticed leaks came after climbing a wicked steep hill in 1st and if I was lucky 2nd gear for a short time, could this have anything to do with it? My oil level has been pretty constant unless I go for a long drive for a hundred miles or so ( I am due for an oil change to).
