Another type solvent for gummed-up pumps, carbs, fuel tanks, etc is to pour out the crap and put in some fresh gasoline with a strong mix of Sta-bil fuel saver in it. Move that into the device, valve, jets, whatever and let it work (soak?) for a while. The Sta Bil does 'dissolve' the gummy residue from stale fuel, though it is not specifically said to do that. It worked for me after a friend told me to try it on my dirtbike that sat with gas in for 4yrs...I believe.. If it were my fuel pump, I would do that 'rocking' that Greg describes. I might go for a week. Then when it frees up, pour out the StaBil mix and perhaps run some injector cleaner through the now running motor's fuel system a few times.. Then change the motor oil and call it good.
