I made one similar to the Pay For It kind without much effort or expense.
Find some appropriate material....plywood, plastic, metal-- and cut yourself
a piece (a jig saw works) to hook around the 'post' in the hatch latch
striker. I had some MDS plastic about 1/2" thick sitting around. It you
cut the base about 2-3" wide it will hook on and lay there flat, just right
when you go to close the hatch. I got an eye bolt at the hardware store and
drilled it through my base.... with a nut on either side of the plate, you
mount that at a right angle through the base plate. With a little fitting,
mine ended up being really 'Skookum' (a boat builders term for shipshape)
You can almost slam the hatch on it and it locks right up...no rattles and
no way to finesse yourself inside if the key is turned and the lock engaged.
Total cost: $.41 and about 1/2hr labor..
