Mr. Squirrel, If you will recall, I was recounting my recent experiences with Cali DMV recently. The office in question is the San Mateo Branch. First thing they do is greet you good morning/afternoon. They ask what you need. Give you a number and offered a clipboard with a pen, in case you did not bring one. Then they say, "Please don't get comfortable. Before you finish your form your number will probably be called. If you are not finish, don't worry. Just bring it to the window." Clerk at window greets you. Then says, "If you are not done with your paperwork, don't worry. You can finish it at my counter. I will wait. And by the way, thank you for coming to San Mateo DMV." Once your paperwork is done, clerk says, "Thanks again for coming. See you again soon." Typical day there for me is 20-25 minutes from the moment I park to the time I'm running out with my new stickers/plates. Well worth the 20 minute drive from my house. It's even faster if you make an appointment. Think DMV Twilight Zone. First time I went there, I thought I wandered into Canadialand (as my kids friend calls it). You know, that cold place up north where there aren't that many people.;-)
