this is fun.
the 'symptom' is clear ...wild idle.

but for clues to go with the symptom ...
as to what might be the cause ...there's only one Clue ..
it's a vanagon.

there are four kinds of engines that come stock in vanagons,
and other types of non-stock engines.

you could start with what version and year vanagon you have .
that would be another clue to work from, for starters.

guessing that it's a waterboxer ...but still year and engine type, and trans
, would  help.

Here's an issue I've been ignoring for the last few weeks due to other
things.  My idle fluctuates like crazy. If you shut the van off and back on
again it will idle smooth for a bit then start the crazy stuff up a again.
ANy suggestions?



The archives is in "hang there frozen" mode at the moment...
