Subject: Fuel Pump Failure - trouble shoot & repair (if Possible)
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-1; format=flowed

I'm trying to resurrect my long dormant Carat which sat for 10 years or there abouts. After working with the engine a bit, turned it over with the battery/starter and got oil pressure. Got good spark at all plugs. BUT - no fuel to the engine. In checking the pump, when the switch is turned on, I can hear a slight bump, and feel a thump, and that is it. I suppose that after sitting 10 years it's locked up. Even with the fuel line plugged, I would to expect to feel the vibration of the pump motor running. I opened the test port "T" in the fuel lines over the engine, cycled the pump - no fuel, no pump vibration. The pump is apparently not running.

Question: Can the pump be repaired and resurrected, or is dead, dead in this case?

Would appreciate any suggestions.

Thanks,

John
