Thanks Steve. If your definition of "early Vanagons" includes non-power steering models, I ordered the Wheelskins "BX" size for my 87 Westy Weekender with manual steering and its larger steering wheel. It was a very tight fit and I struggled at first but I was finally able to get it on after heating it up in the clothes dryer.
If I wasn't so determined (stubborn) I would have called them and ask about buying a slightly larger one for the manual steering Vanagon wheel. It was a bit stressful trying to get it to fit and I thought it might tear at any moment. It did not and it looks and feels fantastic.
I also love mine and highly recommend the Wheelskins products. AND the EuroCamper web site.

We are a Wheelskins dealer, and offer all the colors and options on our website:

I don't have the measurements for the early Vanagon steering wheels, but it's easy to measure and you can call us to order.
Wheelskins can be made to order and shipped direct from the factory. They usually ship the same day by Priority Mail. I have their covers in all of my vehicles and love them.

I second this but how far is "far, far away" for the average squirrel?
Mr. Squirrel's home tree is in Bend OR and Wheelskins home office is about 500 miles away in Berkeley CA. Perhaps he's a flying squirrel and this would be an easy morning trip? Back in the tree by noon, wheel wrapped by 2?
For ground squirrels their web site says:
"Call Wheelskins at 1 800 755-2128, 8:30AM to 4:00PM Pacific Time, or E-mail info@wheelskins.com with your telephone area code. You can also enter the key word Wheelskins into your internet search engine to find a website that sells Wheelskins products." |
