--snip-- The needle is supposed to live on the LED when the engine is at operating temperature. --snip-- Mine always seems to rest right "on" the LED (as in the "bottom" of the needle is touching the "top" of the light) when fully hot at idle. Today we had to stop at the ATM, and as we sat idling I watched the needle move up a little less than 1/8th of an inch 'til the fan came on. The fan ran for a bit and the needle dropped back down to around "normal"; after about a minute the needle was back up and the fan came back on. This has been its pattern under those conditions in the summer. It was maybe 102* at the time; I've often wondered if that 10-15 degree temp difference between here and some other places is the simple explanation for the needle appearing to ride "high". In the cooler months, and at highway speeds it tends to center on the LED. My big issue is that it will peak out on long grades in >100* temps if I don't cool it off. I wish I had known to examine the pump blades when I had it apart. Cya, Robert |
