Fortunately my Vanagon does not have rotten bolts/nuts in such extreme condition. I got the power steering pressure hose successfully replaced this morning. I had to cut off the hose to use a socket. It came off without struggling with a socket. Installing the new hose was not completed without some struggle though. Routing of the hose was not straight forward. A quick test showed no more leak. Job done. Thanks again for everyone's tips. Sorry to bother everyone with this NVC subject. No possible way to get any kind of wrench on them (except the blue one) and really unrecognizable as nuts. Not to mention the flanges almost gone from the cast-iron collector piece. It will need either brazing up or replacing when the system next comes apart. I haven't dared look at the studs -- I don't want to know. Yet. Yours, David |
