Just an update on this one - I decided to see if Autohausaz would take the bad drums back, and they issued an RMA for credit same day. So I will only be out some shipping and a bunch of time in exchange for a lesson on buying cheap parts from non-Vanagon specific parts places. I plan on some new German drums when time permits, but I'm also considering the SA drum upgrade, which is currently out of stock, so I have some time to research it a bit.
