Subject: Skylight Replacement
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=utf-8

Did mine today, ordered from Bus Depot, just the smoked plastic top, not the whole thing as the rest of the hardware on mine was OK. After removing the old badly cracked and leaking top, the next job was not easy. That was scraping off and cleaning up the enormous gobs of silicone sealant the PO had globbed on to keep it from leaking. Now I don't know if this has ever been posted before, but one surprise was the seal around the opening in the pop top for the skylight was shot. It occurred to me that I still had a section of luggage rack seal with the rubber bulb on it from my Bay window Westy days (every one I owned had that luggage rack vibration) Well, it appears that makes an excellent seal for the skylight opening. With my new top in place and the skylight closed, it seems to seal very well all the way around. If it leaks I'll let you all know. Jeff
