"Worse comes to worse a pair of cable pinch pliers applied behind the glove box or under the heater diffuser panel near the floor should do the trick." I replaced mine 2 times without more than a few months of "hot-foot relief so I put a valve on the heater hose behind and to the left of the glove box, which works wonderfully. Removing the dash gauge hood then the gauge cluster (4 phillips screws) is very easy to do. The hardest part of that, in my experience, is pulling the wire connectors off the back of the gauge panel, so you can get to the screws nearest the driver side of the cluster. Also, removing the heater/fresh air control plastic plate so you can see into that part of the controls, or to make adjustments to the cables at that end, is also easy to do. May sound more daunting than anything, but very easy to do. Once having done it a time or 2, it literally takes 5 minutes from hood removal to cluster out. Be careful disconnecting the speedometer cable as the clip can break if you're to physical with it. bob
