Hi Bernie,

That sounds a LOT like the typical "hot-start" problem common to many VW's including my aircooled vans and the cabriolet I used to have.

It may be possible to resolve this with a $20 Bosch relay kit, otherwise it's not unreasonable to consider replacing the starter. I wouldn't touch the immobilizer until after these other alternative options have been explored.
