darn Bernie, I forgot what year and model/type engine vanagon you have . silly me.

and ..I've had a go-around with two 1.9 wbxr vanagons with intermittent ignition recently. point is, I am seeing that exact symptom in a couple of 1.9 wbxr vanagons .. maybe you are having the same issue and nothing to do with immobilizer.

normally if it won't start you do some testing on the engine to get an idea why it's not firing up.

also ..realized after reading the 'hot start' response..

do you mean it cranks over fine and won't fire up ? or do you mean it won't crank on the starter ?

saying which of those is meant is ..you know .
