BTW, for some reason when I responded to the original post suggesting a GPS instead, I said an odd thing. I said that one could sit in camp with an altimeter (assuming an aneroid barometer with analog dial as an altimeter) and observe a rapid _DESCENT_ in altitude as a thunderstorm moved in. Of course, that would be a rapid _ASCENT_. Jeesh!
