well eveyrone has their own opinions, for me, I like the stock westy layout and don't mind the rear view sightlines. and hey, guess what? that's why I am putting my '82 westy stuff in my 86 syncro. its a pity you haven't done the mirror relocation, from your original reply it sounded like you had and could give practical advice about it. cheers alistair

I pretty much like an open 'floor plan' in Vanagons . Working on an 85 Westy GL to get all happy and sell.. someone took out the fridge/sink/stove unit .. and I had something similar .. had it in there about a day .. nope ..I like the open room inside, and am making it into a Faux Weekender. but I do like the rear closet .. that is the perfect location in terms of sight lines... it's the one spot the driver never needs to see through , so it's perfect that way, and nice to put stuff in. I had an 85 Wolfsburg Weekener, and the door to that rear closet is on the side, toward the bed ...so real easy to toss stuff in there, as oppossed to the forward facing narrow door in a westy. ..which is really a close hanging closet, which I have no use for really. Bit I sure do like that cabinet back there in that corner, gives more privacy inside too. |
