It's delicate and expensive. The steel plate you're moving has a ceramic plate glued to it. The screws are insanely tight. I recommend inside, with a good light and make certain that you have the right size of Phillips, in good condition; and use lots of pressure so it doesn't wipe the socket. The top comes off by cutting around the silicone and then exerting very firm tension on one corner. As it starts to peel use judgment so as not to break the cover. The cover will sit back on and seal very nicely, and stay put in any normal driving but still be removable later. BY DOING THIS YOU WILL DESTROY THE CORE VALUE OF THE AFM. I don't think it makes much difference, but I think it's preferable to move the plate toward the wiper shaft. Yours, David |
