Possible the syncro, but likely the 3/4 slider hub has cracked and messing up the 3rd shifting....Needs a rebuild..not much else you can do other than dive into it and rebuild. These days the tranny gets tired in many ways internally and there is no inexpensive way to get around it...Basic Rebuild is $1795. Holler if I can help. aatransaxle.com
