In my ongoing effort to achieve my gold star in westy trivialities :), I found another possible source for westy stove top rattles (aside from the grill, drain tray etc).

Its the fit of the stove top in the rebate cut into the cabinet sides. Seems to allow some movement up and down at the window side. I shimmed the fit and the stove top is a lot more secure.
