Total BS, I have been driving my Westy for 20 years now with the fridge lit. The fire is in a sealed box and cannot jump out to do any damage. IF the fire goes out, the thermocouple shuts off the flow of propane so no problem there ! AND, the fridge fire WILL not blow out while driving if all is as it was designed. So you put it on 12v and each and every time you go in shopping somewhere for an hour or two, you lite the propane and put it back on 12v when you get back under way while your on a 6 month trip ! Come-on that would get pretty darn wacky after awhile and the one time you forget you loose all your food - belch ! Too much nonsense for me. I turn the fridge propane service on when I leave and I turn it off when I get back home. That scenario has worked for me and countless others who visit my shop and whom I have met on the road over the years. 600,000 km and counting !

>>>>>The refrigerator is NOT SUPPOSED to stay lit while driving. Instructions on the propane system specify that the vehicle is not supposed to be driven with the propane valve open. The reason the refrigerator has a 12 V mode is for driving. If the refrigerator is reasonably well maintained, the 12 V mode works, too. Mine does.<<<<<<
