I must be punch drunk after spending all afternoon working on dometic :)

the instructions given are an attempt to make the rtv act like a gasket and not get squeezed out completely. You could cut gasket from copper or something, but i woudl guess the rtv will do it.

The pic doesn't show it, but RTV was used along with the original gaskets. The original gaskets are now gonzo.

I just applied the Permatex red RTV. Instructions say apply, finger tight fasteners right away, wait 1 hour, final tighten. Looking on line, instructions say wait 2 hours then final tighten. Hmmm..... Anyhow, it worked fine as a stand alone combustion box seal last time I used it.
