John,

Since it's sat for 10 years, the first thing you need to do is a service. You need to change the fluid, and assuming it has a filter like most others, you need to change the filter.

Then you need to keep a close watch for any leaks no matter how slight over the next few months. Any sign of fluid leaks means you need to pull & re-seal the transmission. Nursing a automatic transmission leak always costs far more later than it costs to re-seal now.

Ok, now that I have my Carat running for the first time in 10 years, I've a new issue. It has an auto tranny! I I know nothing about the TLC required for it. Since this is the first time the auto tranny has been operated in many a year, and it is my first one at all, any and all Tips and Tricks for Auto Tranny TLC would be appreciated.

Thanks,

John
