That's an extremely clever setup, combining two things that have each been around forever. Typical milk truck setup has a holding plate that's charged by an electric compressor while the truck is plugged into 110v overnight. Typical marine setup uses a mechanical compressor that likely runs continuously when the engine is turning.

If the construction is as clever as the idea, that's a real winner. A Vanagon might be below the point where it's too small to be practical, though. Holding plates take up space. That photo they show is of a probably 50-60 foot gold-plater -- which may also give an idea of the price.

Blue ice and a fridge fan is an extremely pale imitation of the real thing. If the eutectic gel itself were encased in metal instead of plastic it would help a little.
