Subject: Shift Linkage problems
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-1; format=flowed

Hi Volks,

Seems like another maintenance item has caught up with me just as I am too busy to deal with it.

Since leaving Buses Of The Corn I have been having trouble getting the shifter to move between 1-2 and 3-4. Fore-and-aft movement is good, but left-right movement is grabby and somewhat unpredictable.

I dropped the linkage bracket at the transmission and the ball came right off with the cup. Isn't it usually pinned in place? This one seems to have merely been pressed onto the linkage pin. I cleaned it up and tapped it back on and lubed everything up... It worked for a short drive but now it's back to misbehaving.

Can I get a new pin-and-ball? I see Vancafe has them listed but $150+shipping is pretty dear. OTOH; I need this fixed yesterday.

Advice and links to how-to's, wiki's, or forum posts would be greatly appreciated.

Happy Trails,
