Subject: Second Battery not charging
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii"

I recently installed a second battery using the Go Westy kit for my '85 Westy, but put the battery under the back seat instead of the driver seat. I followed the directions, except for the location, and used the Westy long wire to connect the fuse panel to the second battery, and then ran another 8 gauge wire to connect the isolator to the battery. Everything works as expected, except that the battery is not charging.

The alternator is fairly new. I checked voltage on both batteries. On the main battery I get 12.6 engine off and 13.9 engine on. On the second battery I get 11.6 engine off or on.

I saw something in the archives about the refrigerator relay being too small for a second battery. I wonder if the distance is too much for the stock relay and I need a different relay. Anyone have any ideas or suggestions?

Dave
