I do it year-round up here to keep from baking in my mobile greenhouse.

I have foil/bubble/bubble/foil insulation in the hatch window, the rear
window on the passenger side and both rear windows on the driver's side.
When we're driving east across hot places like eastern Washington I put a
piece of insulation in the south-facing slider window too.

When parked it drops the interior temperature ~28 degrees F.
