Vapor-lock is technically impossible on a Vanagon. The design is a complete loop. The fuel pump delivers 'too much' fuel by volume, at a continuously-regulated pressure. So, the injectors take what they need from the rails, and the rest of the excess fuel returns to the tank. The large volume of 'cool' fuel in the tank and lines keeps any boiling or air bubbles flushed through or impossible to occur in the first place. If you shut off the engine, and a hot part boils the fuel in the lines, as soon as you start the engine, the fuel pump will immediately flush out any 'air gap' in the lines and any hot fuel left in the lines will quickly be replaced by cool fuel from the tank. The fuel pump has a check-ball and spring in the outlet that won't allow fuel to return backwards when off.

My wife said, "when they made you, they threw away the mold. But they did keep some of the fungus."
