I was just wondering if this material might be good to place over the engine hatch and surrounding areas particularly in a Westfalia to also give a bit more padding for the lower bed. It looks like it might have good sound and vibration insulating qualities. Anyone on the list tried anything like this?

For anyone else interested, here's an example of a similar type of 
foam to what I think David refers to. Seems cutting the billets can be 
done, but this stuff is 1/2 in. x 4 ft. x 6 ft sheet.........
