You're welcome.

I had a new valve leak from the get go. BUT.... this may have been really old stock. (I recall seeing comments in archives regarding a run of possibly flawed valves years ago)

If it were me, with new part in hand, I'd plug one end and blow through to see if any air escapes.

Highly UN-likely this would happen. Especially considering turn over of parts at the major Vanagon vendors.
