Gilles, assume the game will change before you get a definitive answer... my westy has a nice Sony in it that the PO installed around 5 years ago. has every kind of connection (mp3, cd, usb, ipod, audio jack, etc) and it's already out of date in some ways (e.g. apple changed some specs, so things like the iphone won't work with it except as "aux"). Almost all of the new ones will be amazing compared to the original. And I've found that having a low-end ipod )like a nano) that you can set up with a trip worth of music is great and easy to update for the next trip... time to move on from cds? set a budget and go shopping. include an ipod perhaps, and be sure to set some $$ aside for speakers... world of difference. you could also consider a dvd or blu-ray player as also work with cds.
