If you think that wire gets hot you should try the ones from the alternator to the battery cable with all the accessories on. There is a reason they shortened this wire and connected it directly to the alternator instead of the fuse box. It takes a lot of current to run those AC fans on high along with the compressor. Avoid running the fans on the highest speed any longer than necessary and maybe upgrade that wire to #8.
