David, These pads were so tight I needed a hammer to get them in and out before I took the sandpaper to the outer edges. Mostly the outside two. No sign of crap on the calipers that would cause the problem and the old ones fit fine and looked to be a good match to the new ones. The new ones were just a hair too big to slide. Never had to do that for other changes on other vehicles. Felt a bit odd. Lucas is a good brand but noticed that BD does not carry them for vanagons anymore. Gary

To be even more clear about it, ideally the *only* motion of the pads once they are properly seated on the disk will be to take up wear. With brakes released they still touch the disk, but don't press on it. Disk runout might knock them back a few thou.
