Subject: Removed Distributor Cap, Now Won't Start

Hi -

1985 1.9 Digijet. I took my distributor cap off to check and clean. After I replaced it, the van wouldn't start. I'm thinking I disturbed something simple, like a connector somewhere. Here's what I checked so far:

Tried a diferent cap & rotor - no effect.

I can hear the fuel pump relay and the one adjacent to it click on when the key is turned on but the fuel pump doesn't run.Found no voltage getting to the fuel pump.

Swapped the two fuel pump relays - no effect.

Checked all fuses - all OK.

Checked & cleaned Hall sender plug - no effect.

Inspected all other connectors including AFM, coil, ECU, etc. to see if I knocked one loose. All appear OK. I didn't get near any of these components beforehand and the van ran fine when I drove it a week ago. I didn't try to start it before I pulled the cap so I can't tell if anything happened prior - I doubt anything did.

I was hoping to find something simple, but no luck. Now its finally time for me to learn how to troubleshoot my ignition system. I have a Bentley and a meter. Primary suspect IMO would be the hall sender, but it looks good and its new.

Any suggestions on what troubleshooting steps I can take next?

Thanks, Walter
