That's odd. When I pulled my WBX with 380k kms on the van, the PS system was
original, and the pump was fine, in fact I sold it to a listee. It had run
low on fluid when the steel line failed, and made noise a few times, but I
kept it topped off until I fixed the line. I did flush the system with
standard ATF when I got the van, and cleaned the filter, but that's about
it. From hearing troubles of leaky PS racks, I keep expecting it to go, but
it hasn't yet, now at 425k kms, but driven by an A2 Jetta PS pump on the
1.6TD. Just lucky I guess...
