The problem with running different tires at the door spec is the different tires themselves. What's too low psi for the tire? Running too low pressures for the tire will generate heat and heat will ruin the tire (think tread separation).

Depending on the tire running 10 psi difference (f/b) may not be a stress... but take a tire rated to run all day at 65 psi and run it at 40 on the rear (60% of it's max) and 30 on the front (46% of it max) and I'll bet you get heat problems from too low pressures (on the front for sure).
