My wife and I bought our 1984 yellow Vanagon in June and really like it. But on our last trip, something started smoldering under the dash. We've narrowed it down to a bad switch and likely the blower motor. But I can't figure out how to extract the blower motor from it's housing. Two of us -- fairly capable guys, have been working on it for a couple of days . The official repair manual is no help. I'm prettty sure we got all the clips and opened the welds. But we still can't lift the top of the housing without damaging it. If our luck doesn't improve, my wife and I will have to postpone a planned two week trip in the van. Please: What's the secret to making the dang fan go? (....Sorry there, but we're getting punchy.) Tom Dolan (hedgehouse2@verizon.net) |
