OK, this subject really needs some clarification and I sure hope someone with the correct information chimes in. Here in my neck of the woods it has been a mixed bag. My local propane filling station, the COOP has never refused to fill any of the many tanks I bring over there to be filled. Many of theses tanks do not have the data tag, It has been my mission for well over two years now to remove these tags as they are encourageing the demise of the tanks, I'm talking about the tags welded on at the four corners not the tags welded on with a continuous weld. ALL, tanks I have refurbished including two on my van have no data tags and as far as I know none of these tanks have ever been refused filling or asked for the certification. Personally, I have travelled extensively in Canada, US and Mexico over the last five ~ six years and NEVER have been refused filling or asked for certification information. I am just relating my personal experience here. I hear tell of filling stations in Ottawa that are refusing filling until the tank has been recently certified. NOW, all that said here is what I believe to be the story, and I have no proof so bear with me. All portable tanks require certification at giving time limits and I think some of the filling stations operators are carrying this law over to the stationary fixed in place tanks which they should not be doing. Someone a while back sent me a copy of the regulations and it was quite clear on this point but I have since misplaced this document, I had printed it out and had a copy in my van, "just in case" but I either gave it to someone or lost it and can no longer find the original message that was sent to me. So.......does ANYONE out there have the real legal true story ?

>>>>>>It's quite likely your tank has this type of tag. It is tack welded at each corner. (newer model tanks have tag welded all the way 'round)

If the tag on yours is falling off, IMO, its' time for a new tank. Some may disagree, but that's my .02 on it. ;)<<<<<<<
