Subject: Oil cooler in 1980-1982 aircooled buses?
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=US-ASCII; format=flowed; delsp=yes

I have a 1982 Westy (brown) that was originally a diesel, but has been changed to an aircooled engine.

When I was down at the junkyards, I looked over two aircooled Vanagons. Both of them have oil coolers in the nose, under the lighting grill. They don't have a radiator grill like mine does.

My nose is basically empty: no radiator left from the diesel, no oil cooler.

Should I run-not-walk down to the yards and get one of those oil coolers (and mounts)? Was the stock in-the-fan cooler adequate for this behemoth?
