I second Angus's comments and add that if you have been brought up
wearing wool undershirts you're not going to be wussy and complain
about 'itchy" wool seats :)

To the OP about seat covers from *woven* wool, have a chat with any
local furniture re-upholstery guys. They can advise.

Regarding durability, modern merino wools seem to be doing pretty
well. I
sit here typing while wearing an Icebreaker shirt (280 weight) which I'd
calculate I've worn at least 500 days (along with many nights) and still
shows no significant wear.

If you itch-myth promulgators haven't tried wool recently you need to.
