I bet that most of us keep a library in our vans/Westies and I've seen some cool bookshelves from custom made shelves that were added in, to milk crates between the front seats. My "library" is the front cabinet below the rear table. There is enough room for my field guides, books I haven't started yet, periodicals, small maps etc.. I also keep writing materials (envelopes/stationery etc.) and my binoculars in that cabinet among a few other small items. Mostly the library is full of books though. If you have enough books you can keep them very organized since they will hold themselves upright in that space. If you read a few you have to replace them or else things may get messy. The book/journal/magazine that I'm currently reading usually lives out of the cabinet underneath the rear table so that it is easy to grab. I also keep a few atlases under the rear table over the library and consider the rear table my nav station. I added good reading light over the table and always have pen paper etc. back there so it is a good place to navigate/read/make notes etc. etc. Probably similar to how many folks do, or used to setup a desk in their homes. Beyond that I keep a dictionary by the parking brake lever and use it frequently. I stumbled on this placement accidentally when I started keeping a Spanish/English dictionary there to read Mexican road signs. When I got back to the U.S. I put an English dictionary there and use it regularly.

Anyway, I've seen plenty of good library arrangements but really like that front cabinet below the rear table for a library.. It's worked well for years in my van.
