Yes, same key for both, true of all Vanagons we have owned (86, 89 Westfalia, 90 GL, 87 Wolfsburg Ed. and 87 Syncro). The latter two we still have. I need to get a new gas cap to pass smog next time. Ok this year, but with deterioration of the seals or whatever it is, the cap probably will not pass muster next time. Buckarette, 87 Syncro.
