hi... I know, I know .. seriously... had a nice little talk with the guy at the front desk ...medium length tire valves to clear the hubcaps.. I check in the guy mounting the tires ... he missed the note, was putting in short ones.

so it's getting to where I doubt any conversation that is not in person, in the moment, right there, right then... because so often lately ...the conversation turned out to be untrue or a waste of time.

re Drove a couple of hundred miles on them that way until I noticed, went back, pissed, & they took care of it immediately-gave moi a $50 off coupon for my troubles, but said no problem!

I am really glad to hear that ...that they offered to correct it immediately .. with apologies I hope, and a 50 dollar gift coupon. that is how it SHOULD be when a shop screws up .

I don't think we can really trust tire stores very much. Got one customer ....nice 86 Wolfsburg Weekender...brand new *car* tires on it. I asked if she got them at the Ashland OR Les Schwab .. I already knew she probably did, and she did. I talked to them at 'my' les Schwab dealer.. asking them if they'd consider buying back the near new car tires at something like 30 bucks each, and give her a very fair deal on a set of correct vangon-rated tires .. the guy I talked to was open to the idea.

It is always smart for any business to immediately clean up any mistake and even offer some compensation, like a free oil change, which costs a business very little in parts and time. that's only smart ..a good reputation is the single most important asset any business can have, more important than any other asset, or fancy equipment, etc.

you know...people know that people make mistakes now and then ...that just happens. what they want, and expect, is that the mistake maker will acknowledge it, apologize, and take care of it, immediately. No problem when that happens. Unfortunately ....'being defensive' is a too common malady that many humans in this, and many, cultures, suffer from. If they'd just say ....'you're right ! thanks for pointing that out. We'll take care of it immediately' .. and sometimes it happens that way, sometimes.
