Dave: You can install a bypass line with a thermostat that will send oil at a predetermined temp and shut down when things get too cool. I bought an AMOT valve years ago, but I'm sure Summit Racing or someone similar will have something similar. The Amot had interchangeable innards that would let you dial in the opening temp as well as the full flow temp. VERY cool.
